How To Make the Most of World Fitness Day

If you haven’t heard, Jane Fonda is launching the first annual World Fitness Day at the Georgia Dome on May 1st, 2010 with some of her closest friends like Richard Simmons, Denise Austin and Billy Blanks- don’t miss it! Bring your sneakers and favorite exercise outfit so you can participate in the fitness extravaganza (for all ages and activity levels).

We want you to enjoy World Fitness Day and make the most of it, so here are a few things you can do to prevent foot pain from raining on your parade:

-Check the age of your shoes. Most athletic shoes last about 6 months before the material begins to naturally break down.  If you’ve thrown them in the washer, the material breaks down even quicker.
Tip: Next time you buy a pair of athletic shoes, write the date somewhere on the shoe in permanent marker.

-The foot elongates 1/8” after the first 15 minutes or activity, so make sure you have enough room in your shoes.

-Stop Blisters before they Start: Blisters are caused by friction of the shoe rubbing against your foot, which can be a sign that your shoes are either too small or too large.  The best way to avoid blisters is to have your feet properly measured and fitted into a good quality athletic shoe.

What are you waiting for? Join us on May 1st at the Georgia Dome- visit www.WorldFitnessDay.org for more information.
